Peacher's Sound Bytes
10/26/02
Yo, whats up everyone? I’m back for my 2nd column. I just want to dedicate this edition of
Peacher’s soundbytes to my good friend Dan, aka Greg’s Little brother. He says he doesn’t like my column but the real reason he doesn’t like it is cause he’s jealous that he doesn’t have his own music column...sucks for him, huh?
Rap/techno/party music...
3rd Storee featuring Joe Budden - Get With Me
This song is hot as hell. It reminds me a bit of the Joe-Mystikal collaboration for the studder remix a few years back.
J.Lo w/ Lox - Jenny from the Block
For some odd reason, J.Lo seems to make these great songs when she teams up with rappers. This is another example of that. You’ll recognize the hook because its from an old song. You can guess the song, I don’t want to give it away.
Paul Oakenfold featuring Shiffty Shellshock - Starry Eyed Suprise
This song is off Paul Oakenfold’s latest album. His latest album is different from his other albums as he concentrates on collaborations with other artists rather than the trance that made him a world famous DJ. This collaboration with Shiffty Shellshock of Crazytown is the best off the album and it brings back memories of Crazytown’s hit “Butterfly”
Jurassic 5 - Whats Golden
This is the first single of the new J5 album which I highly recommend. This group along with common and the roots are the most talented rappers in my opinion.
Song of the Week to download:
Benzino - Rock the Party
If you have digital cable, this song is all over MTV jams. The first time someone recommended this song to me, I was not that impressed. However, it grows on you and I feel it is a great song to download, so go get it right now.
Rock...
Sensefield - Save Yourself
I really can’t even put this song into a category. Its very acoustic oriented, I highly recommend it. I don’t know much about this band but this song has great potential.
The Early November - I Want To Hear You Sad
This band is the newest edition to Drive Thru records. You can download this song off the Drive Thru Records website. Expect to hear a lot from this emo band in the future.
Matt Nathanson - Answering Machine
This guy is an acoustic singer songwriter. I can’t wait to see him in about a month when he opens for O.A.R. If you like singer/songwriters, then get this song and try to download a live version, it does him more justice.
Thursday - Standing on the Ddge of Summer
This hardcore/emo band from New Jersey has two albums. Their latest album being called full collapse put them on the scene as the song "understanding in a car crash" become an mtv2 regular. This song along with another song called "how long is the night" are in my opinion the best 2 songs off the album.
Song of the Week to Download:
Nirvana - You Know You're Right
What can you say about Nirvana? Kurt Cobain changed rock forever whether you like him or not. Nirvana was a great band and this song shows their talent. Its too bad Kurt’s gone, what a waste of talent.
